Blake Herren - Youth Minister Bro. Blake's first association with Pottsville First Baptist Church was in 1973 at the age of 9 when he began attending church there with his mother and grandparents. Then one night in October of 1974 after revival services he felt the need to talk with Pastor Sam Brown about his spiritual condition. It was then that Bro. Blake prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

In later years because of family members serving in the ministry Bro. Blake joined the membership of Knoxville First Baptist Church and then Plainview First Baptist.

As he grew older and after graduation Bro. Blake moved his membership back to Pottsville First Baptist Church. It was during this time in 1986 that he met his wife Tena who was also a member at Pottsville. As they began dating it was evident to Blake that God had led him back home to Pottsville FBC and that he had met the woman God intended for him to marry. The two were married at the church in March of 1988 by their former Pastor Jack McKinnon.

In January 1992 their first son Brad was born while the two were attending Pottsville FBC. Looking back now Blake can see that the Lord was preparing the two for the ministry but at the time he wasn't sure what was going on because he knew, or thought he knew, that God would never call him to the ministry. After a few years of running from the call and after God getting his attention, Blake did surrender to the ministry and in 1999 was ordained into the Gospel Ministry by Pottsville First Baptist Church.

Since that time Blake and Tena have been blessed with another son, Bryce, in 2004. They have been blessed with many other blessings in the ministry, one of the greatest being called back to their home church in 2006 to serve as Minister of Youth and Associate Pastor with his dear friend and Brother in Christ, Reverend Jim Huffman. The two serve together with joy knowing it is a team the Lord has put together for His purpose.
